HSBC Bank partnered with I-Mentor and volunteered at Fort Greene Park on April 4, 2005. HSBC employees and their mentees worked on a slope stabilization project with gardener Kara Gilmour. Volunteers laid down logs and jute matting and then re-seeded and fenced off the area to help prevent further erosion from occurring.
The Rockefeller Foundation planted a garden and repainted fencing at Brevoort Playground in Brooklyn on May 17, 2005. Volunteers planted numerous shrubs and perennials in an empty sandbox and repainted the fence surrounding the new garden.
The Advertising Council spent a day of team building at East River Park on July 26. Over 80 volunteers helped to repaint park benches and worked with gardeners to weed and woodchip the planting beds near the fireman's memorial. After their hard work in the summer sun, volunteers enjoyed a picnic lunch in the park.
ACE USA participated in their first global days of service with 110 volunteers at St. Nicholas Park and Sara D. Roosevelt Park. At both locations volunteers helped gardeners plant trees, bulbs and perennials.
Throughout the summer, over 1,900 youth from RockCorps volunteered in parks in all 5 boroughs. Volunteers repainted playground equipment, game lines, fencing, planted gardens, and wood chipped and weeded planting beds all in return for a free concert which was held at Radio City Music Hall.
Toyota North America participated in their 4th National Public Lands Day at Washington Square Park. Employees and family members helped gardeners plant the entrances to the park with mums and perennials.
Verizon Wireless volunteered at Red Hook Park in Brooklyn. Employees planted the entrances to the Red Hook Ballfields with red and yellow tulips and daffodils.
ING Direct had 35 employees volunteer at Marcus Garvey Park on the weekend of the New York City Marathon. Volunteers planted in gardens surrounding the Pelham Fritz Recreation Center.
