EnvironmentalProtection Agency: The mission of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is to protect human health and to safeguard the natural environment air, water, and land upon which life depends.
The Green Mountain Institute for Environmental Democracy : The Green Mountain Institute for Environmental Democracy seeks to reinvigorate the essential connections among the public, government, and information necessary for effective improvements in environmental quality. The Institute hosts forums and provides technical assistance to conservation and development decision-makers to help them become more effective.
The Land-Ocean Interface in the Coastal Zone: A project of the International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme, the Land-Ocean Interface in the Coastal Zone focuses on the area of the earth’s surface where land, ocean, and atmosphere meet and interact. The project’s goal is to understand that interaction and learn how best to manage the world’s coastal resources into the future.

The National Recreation and Park Association : The National Recreation and Park Association is a national nonprofit organization devoted to advancing park, recreation, and conservation efforts that enhance the quality of life for all Americans. The Association works to extend the social, health, cultural, and economic benefits of parks and recreation. Through its network of 23,000 recreation and park professionals and civic leaders, NRPA encourages recreation initiatives for youth in high-risk environments, the promotion of healthy lifestyles, and conservation of natural and cultural resources.
Natural Resources Defense Council : The Natural Resources Defense Council uses law, science, and the support of more than 400,000 members nationwide to protect the planet’s wildlife and wild places and to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all living things.
Organic Gardening : For any organically/environmentally inclined gardeners out there, this site offers a free monthly ’to do’ calendar by email, organized by USDA hardiness zone. It tells what you can plant, what to look out for in the garden, etc.
Project for Public Spaces : PPS is a nonprofit organization that helps communities grow their public spaces into vital community places, with programs, uses, and people- friendly settings that highlight local assets, spur rejuvenation, and serve common needs.
Sierra Club : The Sierra Club exists to help individuals to explore, enjoy, and protect the wild places of the earth, to practice and promote the responsible use of the earth’s ecosystems and resources, and to educate and enlist humanity to protect and restore the quality of the natural and human environments.
